Mazda MX-5 Cup Race #7 - ROAD ATLANTA

This weekend marked the finale of the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Cup season. While we felt a bit of sadness that the season had come to an end, we were equally proud of the progress we made. We entered this weekend with a clear goal: to wrap up the season on a high note.

During Wednesday’s practice, we ended up P14 by the end of the day. I focused on refining my throttle points, perfecting my racing lines, and noting ideal passing zones. I felt eager and ready to qualify in the morning.

I qualified in P15 for the races, feeling optimistic about my chances. In Race 1, I was running strong until an unfortunate mishap in turn 5 led to a DNF. Despite this setback, there was a silver lining: after tech inspection, I was thrilled to learn that we still secured Top Finishing Female!

After the setback in Race 1, we were placed P19 on the starting grid. But with a new day comes new opportunities, and I was determined to make the most of it!

After a long race with 4 full course yellows, we ended up in P14 and Top Finishing Female. While I believe we had the potential to achieve even more, I’m still proud of how the weekend wrapped up.

With an entire season of MX-5 Cup behind me, I’m incredibly proud of the evolution I’ve experienced, not just as a driver but as a person. If you had told me a year ago that I would be competing in the MX-5 Cup, I wouldn’t have believed it.

Given my limited car experience, it feels selfish to take all the credit. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my mom and dad, Spark Performance, Brad Little, Bryce Cornet, Tom Long, Coble Commercial Properties, Late Model Restoration, Smart-energize.com, Ambit Energy, and Palmetto Galleries for their unwavering support.

As is tradition, the last race of the season was followed by a banquet to celebrate everyone's efforts. We prepared for the black-tie MX-5 Cup 2024 event, where Spark Performance decided to embrace an exciting theme: the Roaring '20s. It was the perfect way to honor our achievements in style!

Spark Performance was recognized as the Best Dressed Team, and Alex Bachoura received the prestigious Spirit of Mazda Award. I was also recognized for my P6 finish at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. What a fantastic way to wrap up the year with everyone!

I can’t wait to return next season, more prepared and eager to achieve great results. With a year of experience behind me, I’m optimistic about making some history next year! Thank you again to everyone who contributed to such an awesome season!
